Thinset Removal Tampa
TAMPA THINSET REMOVAL SERVICES
Thinset removal can be a challenging and time-consuming task, but it is essential if you want to install new tiles or flooring on a surface that has already been tiled. Thinset is a cement-based adhesive that is used to secure tiles to floors, walls, and other surfaces, and it can be difficult to remove once it has dried and hardened.
We use grinders to remove stubborn thinset, mortars, and other flooring adhesives. Our equipment is capable of removing some of the thinnest and toughest coatings while leaving the concrete in tact. Our grinders pull up thinset and adhesives with ease and will smooth the surface in order to prepare for the new flooring.

You can put new thinset on top of old, but only if the old thinset is perfectly smooth and level. Use a floor grinder and pass it back and forth over the old thinset until it is perfectly smooth and level. You can now tile directly on top of it as if it were a new surface.

To remove thinset, start by pouring boiling water over the thinset to weaken the material. Leave it for an hour, then hold a sharp putty knife at a 45-degree angle and hammer the back with a hand maul to break up the thinset.

If you're doing a big area, then a demo hammer with a thinset removal blade is the way to go.

Dampen the thinset area as you would with water, but use straight white vinegar. Vinegar is a light acid and works well for concrete-based materials when it comes to cleanup.
